Agile development (also referred to as agile process model)

(Software Engineering) an adapted version of software engineering that emphasizes customer communication, incremental software delivery, informal methods and work products, and highly motivated teams.

Distributed load:

(english) An external force which acts over a region of length, surface, or area: essentially any external force which is not a concentrated force.

Portland Blast- slag Cement Furnace (ASTM C 595)

(Concrete Engineering) The product obtained by intimately intergrinding or an intimate and uniform blending a mixture of granulated blast furnace slag and portland-cement clinker

Beryllium Copper

(english) An alloy of copper and 2-3% beryllium with optionally fractional percentages of nickel or cobalt. Alloys of this series show remarkable age-hardening properties and an ultimate hardness of about 400 Brinell (Rockwell C43). Because of such hardness and good electrical conductivity, beryllium-copper is used in electrical switches, springs, etc.

Mass balance

(Environmental Engineering) An organized accounting of all inputs and outputs to an arbitrary but defined system. Stated in other terms, the rate of mass accumulation within a system is equal to the rate of mass input less the rate of mass output plus the rate of mass generation within the system.

Task set

(Software Engineering) a collection fo software engineering tasks that are required to complete an activity or action that is part of a software process framework

Load:

(english) An external force. The term load is sometimes used to describe more general actions such as temperature differentials or movements such as foundation settlements.

Reversible reaction

(Environmental Engineering) A reaction in which the reactant(s) proceed to product(s), but the products react at an appreciable rate to reform reactant(s).

Irreversible reaction

(Environmental Engineering) A reaction in which the reactant(s) proceed to product(s), but the products react at an appreciable rate to reform reactant(s).

Coupling

(Software Engineering) an informal measure of the degree to which a software component is connected to other components, to data, and to the external environment

Transmissibility:

(english) The principle stating that a force has the same external effect on an object regardless of where it acts along its line of action.

Equilibrium:

(english) An object is in equilibrium if the resultant of the system of forces acting on it has zero magnitude. See static equilibrium and dynamic equilibrium.
